EstimAI AI estimate result inside Jira — story points with complexity, effort and uncertainty breakdown

Features

Estimates with context — and a reason

EstimAI doesn't just spit out a number. It reads everything that defines the work, explains its reasoning, and learns from how your team actually delivers.

🖼️

Vision analysis

Upload design screenshots or paste a Figma link — EstimAI reads UI complexity visually and factors it into the estimate.

📄

Confluence context

Linked specs and requirement pages are pulled in automatically, so the estimate reflects the real scope — not just the title.

📈

Historical calibration

Your team's completed tasks become reference anchors. Estimates are tuned to your velocity, not a generic scale.

🧠

Explainable output

Every estimate breaks down into complexity, effort and uncertainty, with the assumptions and risks spelled out.

🔑

Bring your own key

Use OpenAI GPT-4o mini or Anthropic Claude Haiku under your own API key. EstimAI runs no AI servers of its own.

🃏

Planning Poker loop

Record your team's actual estimates after each session. EstimAI tracks AI-vs-team accuracy and improves over time.

How it works

From issue to calibrated estimate in four steps

Load an Epic or issue

EstimAI pulls the description, acceptance criteria and sub-tasks from Jira — Scrum, Kanban, team- or company-managed.

Add context

Drop in design screenshots, a Figma link, grooming notes or linked Confluence specs. All optional, all powerful.

Get explainable estimates

AI estimates each task across complexity, effort and uncertainty — anchored to your team's completed work.

Run Planning Poker

Record the team's actual points. EstimAI tracks accuracy and recalibrates for next sprint.

Per-task breakdown

Estimate every sub-task, sum to an Epic total

Load an Epic and EstimAI estimates each Story individually, then rolls them up — with a copyable report of assumptions and recommendations you can paste straight into refinement.

Historical calibration — completed tasks used as estimation anchors

Calibration history

Gets smarter with every sprint

EstimAI compares its estimates against your team's real Planning Poker results and completed work, surfacing accuracy over time so estimates keep tightening to your reality.

Design-aware

It sees what you're building

Screenshots and Figma frames are analyzed for UI complexity, while linked Confluence pages add the written scope — so the estimate reflects the full picture, not a one-line summary.

FAQ

Good questions

How much does it cost?

EstimAI is free and unlimited — every feature included. Because it's bring-your-own-key, you pay only your own OpenAI or Anthropic usage; EstimAI itself charges nothing. (Paid team plans may arrive in a future release.)

Why bring-your-own-key (BYOK)?

You stay in full control of your AI spend and data residency, and you can pick the provider you trust. Your key is stored encrypted per-installation in Atlassian Forge storage and never reaches the browser.

What about data privacy?

EstimAI runs on Atlassian Forge and operates no AI servers of its own. When you run an estimate, the content you choose is sent to your configured provider (OpenAI or Anthropic) under your key, and is not retained after the session. No training on your data. Full details in our Privacy Policy.

Which AI models are supported?

OpenAI GPT-4o mini and Anthropic Claude Haiku — switch in Settings anytime.

Which platforms does it work with?

Jira Cloud only, across all project types — team-managed, company-managed, Scrum and Kanban.
